谁是医疗助理?

医疗助理s perform administrative and clinical tasks. The duties vary depending on office location, size, and specialty. Administrative duties may include answering telephones, 问候病人, 安排预约, 维护电子病历, 完成保险转介. Clinical duties may include obtaining medical histories from patients, 记录生命体征, 为病人做检查准备, and assisting the physician during examinations. 医疗助理s may also collect and prepare laboratory specimens, 消毒设备, and perform venipunctures and 心电图(心电图).

This is a competency-based certificate program where formal instruction is integrated with invaluable hands-on and clinical experience: students learn theory, practice the theory in the lab and then perform skills on patients in a clinical setting. In two semesters, the curriculum prepares students to be important members of the healthcare team. Most of the courses are online/asynchronous except MO106, MO107, and MO108, which are face-to-face. The program includes a 160-hour Clinical 医疗助理 Capstone (unpaid internship) in a physician’s office, 保健机构, hospital, 或者其他医疗机构.

成功完成课程后, graduates are eligible to sit for the national 医疗助理 examination with the 全国医疗保健协会. The program is seeking accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP), on recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB).

The 医疗助理 program is a criteria-based admissions program.
